As the pace of life hushes into the silent hour, the world slowly unravels into vulnerability and inattentiveness, and finally slips into slumber. The wee small hours bring with it the tranquility to make you feel like the king of the world — for as the world sleeps, you plough on, with only the night lamps as company.

You stand out in your verandah, with a coffee cup in hand, taking a break from deadlines, breathing in the fresh air, mixed with the aroma of coffee or lightly holding a cigarette, watching the wisps of smoke create transient patterns in the dark against the halogen street lights. The wee small hours behold certain magic; from young couples falling in love, to hostel affairs with Maggi.

Alone with your thoughts, you contemplate life as it is — no longer distracted by the world around you when suddenly inspiration strikes, and you feel the thought has potential. with the glow of that one warm thought, you smile.

And as you down the last sips of coffee, the scattered stars slowly hide, with the promise to be back, leaving you invigorated and ready to face a new beginning once more.
